Gucci Ancora is Sabato De Sarno’s Debut Collection With the Maison
Take a closer look at the details of Sabato De Sarno’s debut Spring/Summer 2024 collection with Gucci
Since its announcement early this year, the fashion industry has been waiting for the big debut of Sabato De Sarno. Many were curious to see how the creative director will open Gucci’s new chapter and where its fashion direction will head this time around. At last, the wait is over and Sabato has now reintroduced the house codes that reminds us of Maison’s famous designs back in 1994. For his debut collection, the creative director named it Gucci Ancora, which translates to “again” or “still” in Italian—a message of rekindled love for the brand.

Allure reinterpreted
One of the main concepts infused in Gucci Ancora was the idea of desire, which is why the chosen color palette appeared on the runway. A range of reds was finished in leather and vinyl, darker shades of blues were seen on wool and denim, while bright pops of color like neon green and pinks had their time in the spotlight as well. To balance out the saturated shades, neutrals like white, black, and beige were also included in the runway.
Made to repeat
Outfit repeating has been a concept that brands have been championing in their designs recently. Though it’s an action that should be normalized, it’s a message that has been emphasized in recent times. In a sense, this is Sabato’s way of joining in on the conversation. Staple closet pieces like the blazer and ultra mini skirt combination, slip dresses with low necklines, and relaxed outerwear that is ideal to use everyday were all showcased at Milan Fashion Week.
As the collection neared its end, a range of evening wear was also presented. Fringe was incorporated on blazers and skirts, lace was applied around the bust area, and beaded finishes adorned mini dresses.
Up-to-date Gucci
It’s easy to note that the designs were inspired by what people have been wearing nowadays. Coordinates were interpreted in various ways while pieces such as jeans, tank tops, sweaters, and coats were styled in an effortless manner. This direction is undoubtedly different from its previous eclectic design, but it’s refreshing to see Gucci take on a more refined look for its new chapter, Gucci Ancora.
