Rapture Royalty Diaries: A Backstage Chat With Amazing Chalita
Get to know Amazing Chalita as she shares the art and heart of her drag
The trans goddess took the stage in a faux fur jacket and started with teasingly restrained movements. The moment the music dropped its thumping beats, the jacket came off and revealed a dazzling rhinestone jumpsuit. Rapture Royalty’s doll danced the house down with splits, high kicks, and cartwheels to “Hush Hush” by The Pussycat Dolls. Amazing Chalita’s number was combined with perfectly timed prop play. Each time the song went, “hush, hush,” she fed the audience with hash browns.

What inspired you to pursue drag?
“RuPaul’s Drag Race!”
Who or what are your inspirations that help you shape your drag persona and performances?
“Cabaret, burlesque, and RuPaul’s Drag Race. I’m a showgirl and a comedy queen, so mahilig po talaga ako sa type ng show na pang-cabaret and stunts. [As for] RuPaul’s Drag Race, I love to see more types of drag so I can elevate mine. I love exploring my drag!”
What is the proudest moment of your career so far?
“Nakikilala na po sa drag industry ang Rapture Royalties and my sister queens because of Arizona Brandy. That’s why we’re thankful to our sister queen.”
Where do you want to see your drag in the future?
“Drag Race Philippines Season 3!”
What is the best thing about drag?
“Drag is a platform where you can express anything you want.”
Fashion and beauty
Best makeup tip or hack?
Always find the perfect foundation shade [for] your skin. Know your skin type [also] kasi like [me], I’m allergic to some cosmetic brands. Hinahanap ko talaga ‘yung perfect na ingredients ng [product], ‘yung hindi ako maa-allergy.”
Best fashion or styling tip and hack?
“Every fashion or style is good. Know your drag type and aesthetic. Give ukay-ukay a try! Maraming magaganda na damit and shoes na pwede mong i-upgrade para mas gumanda pa.”
On performing
What was your first drag performance like?
“I’m [the] kind of drag queen na nag-start po talaga sa trans pageantry, and [lip-syncing was my talent]. Ako po ang Best in Talent.
Describe your best performance so far
“All of my performances are the best kasi I always give 100,000,000,000% every time na nagpe-perform ako sa harap ng tao—may tip man o wala, may palakpakan o wala. I believe na if it’s your passion, your will to do it [will push you] to give your best kahit ano pa ang maging reaction [ng audience].”
Top three go-to songs when you perform?
The Pussycat Dolls’ “Hush, Hush,” Cher’ “Believe,” [and] Care Divas’ “Saan Ka Man Dalhin”
Cubao drag
What’s the most valuable lesson you’ve learned from your sisters?
“Habaan ang pasensiya, be humble, at GV-GV lang.”
What is Cubao drag?
“Cubao drag is pang masa! [Rapture Cafe Bar] is affordable, but the quality of the show is guaranteed. The aliw factor is there. What makes us different and unique ay sa mga shows namin, may pa-libreng pulutan. Nanood ka na, nabusog ka pa!”
“If you want to experience the fun and uniqueness of Cubao Drag, please visit Rapture Cafe Bar at 24 Yale Street, Cubao, Quezon City. See you!”
