Here are the five trends that were all over New York Fashion Week
The first week of Spring/Summer 2024 fashion week has come to an end and we’ve got New York to close it off. It was definitely filled with unexpected trends and city centric styles that made it distinctly fit for the Big Apple. To properly cap off the week, we rounded up five trends that reigned the runway.

Print overload
It’s no surprise to see that prints have made another appearance this time of the year. Most of them had abstract patterns to it finished in either neutral or vibrant hues—fitting for a little brunch outfit on a Sunday in New York. Fashion labels like Ulla Johnson and Michael Kors are some of the few that had this style on their collections.
Loose and relaxed
This is the beloved silhouette many of us have worn every Spring/Summer because of its effortless finish. This can be done with a form-fitting dress topped off with an oversized blazer, or a loose button-down paired with loose knee-high shorts. You can look at Tory Burch and Philip Lim for some style inspiration.
Drop waist
We’ve gone through high-waisted and low-waisted, so it’s time to introduce the drop waist. We can give credit to the high demand of corsets and vintage fashion that gave influence to this trend. This specific detail is mostly seen on top-skirt combinations or dresses, and it’s best to check out Christian Siriano and Collina Strada for this type of style.
Chainmail era
We’re not sure how the metal and heat combination will do under the sun, but it was a hit on the runway for this season. If you take a look at LaPointe and Retrofete, you’ll see iterations of the chainmail material that’s ideal for a night-out look or a beach party ensemble.
Obsessive layering
Layering for the summer? It might be unheard of, but these designers were able to pull it off the summer way. Whether it’s dresses layered with jeans or ruffled pieces on top of loose tops, this way of layering can only be pulled off if you’re the type to go for anything quirky and playful. You’ll see this look with Prabal Gurung and Proenza Schouler, so this is your chance to recreate it in your own way.
