A New Hue: Yamaha Takes Us on A Trip to Uniqueness
In a fashion meets freedom celebration, Yamaha pulls out all the stops to introduce the Mio Fazzio’s exciting new colors in Davao
Youth, speed, and the freedom of the road have always been intertwined, each echoing a distinct feeling of self-expression and identity. As young adults seek new ways to make their voices heard and their presence known, the connection between these elements becomes even more relevant. Yamaha echoes this urgency with the Mio Fazzio, touted as an “icon of youthful expression” designed to offer a unique blend of individuality, mobility, and style.
With the slogan, “Start Youniqueness: Ride to a New Hue,” the Japanese mobility manufacturer has created an exciting new option for today’s generation, eager to redefine the way the youth rides. The Mio Fazzio is an invitation to stand out, to be bold, and to embrace one’s unique sense of style while enjoying high-quality mobility.
“We feel the importance of Gen-Z right now,” says Toni Boy Acuesta, Marketing Section Manager of Yamaha Motor Philippines. “They’re very self-expressive and their individuality shines through. This generation has the potential to change the future.”
All in hue
At the launch of the Mio Fazzio’s newest colors, Yamaha held a two-part launch event at SM Lanang Premier in Davao with a test-ride event that went on from October 20 to 22, 2023. The morning of the 20th, the day kicked off in the morning with guests invited to test ride the scooter at the car park.
Yamaha created a road map around the parking lot so that they could experience the new models firsthand with the guidance of licensed drivers from the Yamaha Riding Academy. Before test-driving, attendees who flew from Manila to Davao, underwent a safety briefing and were geared up with the correct motorcycle gear.
Late in the afternoon, all invited guests and MEGAStyle influencers such as Lance de Ocampo, Ashley Garcia, Sofia Jahrling, Joaquin Tiu, Ralph de Leon, Cess Tan, and couple CJ Navato and Honey Deli visited the Mio Fazzio booth in the atrium of SM Lanang Premier, where they had the opportunity to learn more about the newest motorcycle on the block.
To further celebrate the unique personality of the Gen-Z generation, Yamaha partnered with clothing companies DBTK, Nobody Clothing, and Coziest to create one-of-a-kind apparel that showcases Mio Fazzio’s distinctive character. Each motorcycle color—Matte Orange, Ivory White, and Pastel Blue—was also custom-designed with decals crafted by Iron Macchina Customs.
“This is us tapping into first-time motorcycle users,” shares Acuesta on why they’ve chosen to partner with local clothing brands. “We wanted the younger generation to see themselves riding the Mio Fazzio and our collaboration reflects the lifestyle we have envisioned for them.” He also adds that this partnership was a merging of Filipino design and the basics of vehicle safety that the Japanese are known for.
Geared for the main event
As the evening approached, crowds began to gather at the North Wing of SM Lanang Premier, eagerly awaiting the highlight performances of the night. DJ Nix Damn P set the mood with a blend of pop tunes and electronic music, followed by a fashion show featuring the collaborative works of DBTK, Coziest, and Nobody Clothing.
The charismatic Janeena Chan served as the evening’s host, who also pumped up the crowd as they awaited the two big performances of the night. Filipino rapper Al James energized the crowed with his hit singles, “Pahinga,” “Pa-Umaga,” and “Latina.” The night reached a crescendo with Juan Karlos’ electrifying set, featuring “Buwan,” “Shot Puno,” and his Spotify global hit, “Ere.”
To sum up the whole experience of the launch, video creator Ashley Garcia says that her third time touring the Philippines with the Yamaha Mio Fazzio has built up her confidence to ride the sophisticated scooter.
“It’s so easy to learn this time around because I finally know how to maneuver it properly. It’s very beginner-friendly,” says Garcia. She also adds that the Mio Fazzio is empowering for her. She continues, “The ride itself gives us the platform to show our confidence in ourselves. Not just with style but moving from one place to another.”
With its retail price starting at PHP 93,900, the Mio Fazzio is now available at Yamaha dealers across the nation. The event validated its unrivaled appeal to the younger crowd, placing Yamaha’s Mio Fazzio as their ideal partner for every ride.
