Enhance Your Professional Presence: Cetaphil’s Expert Guide for Skin Awareness Month

Becoming successful in the workplace requires looking and acting the part. In celebration of Skin Awareness Month, Cetaphil leads us on a journey towards curating a professional image, from attitude to styles to skincare routines.

Often, honing various skills is considered the key to thriving in the workplace. However, while that is true in many ways, conveying your value also has much to do with establishing your brand. In particular, developing a professional presence allows you to advance even in the most competitive environments. After all, conveying competency through how you present yourself plays a huge part in having people trust your skills. Most importantly, it can bring out the most powerful version of yourself.

In celebration of Skin Awareness Month, Cetaphil took over the AGC PHC Office to give us tips on how to establish a professional presence. The two-day event featured relevant talks from industry experts and free skin consultations. We compiled some of the tips shared so you, too, could unlock your true potential in a professional environment.

1. Establish Gravitas

The road to elevating your professional presence starts with how you project yourself. Genuinely being positive and confident gives the impression that you can handle anything. Beyond that, it shows how you’re ready to take charge in the workplace. This is what gravitas is all about. It’s about how you carry yourself and leave a lasting impression on those around you.

In his talk, Eric Cruz, a learning consultant and facilitator, emphasized how presence effectively affects how we see ourselves. “If you see yourself as not good enough, it will generate a certain kind of emotion in your body, and that will be the experience of other people of your presence.”

Hence, having gravitas begins with your inner self. You must first work around pessimistic and self-pitying talk. Only by uplifting yourself can you think, act, and feel confident.

Conversely, Eric also warned us to practice humility, as too much confidence can convey the wrong message to your co-workers. Overall, gravitas is all about finding the right balance of confidence and humility to be respected as a competent and credible person.

2. Effective Communication

As the workplace involves interaction, proper communication goes a long way toward establishing professional presence and rapport with colleagues. Communication is all about connection. Beyond using words, verbal cues also play a huge part in establishing that connection. The nonverbal aspect of everyday communication can actually convey more than verbal cues.

As such, Eric highlighted how important it is to mind our gestures and body language in the workplace. For instance, a closed stance could convey that you have issues that you cannot communicate. By working on both verbal and nonverbal communication, we can effectively build meaningful and positive connections in the workplace, enabling us to thrive more in a professional environment.

3. Proper Presentation

Inevitably, appearance is the first thing people notice about you. It conveys so much about who you are and your capabilities. So, a good presentation is essential in establishing a professional presence. Proper presentation can be broken down into two aspects: style and beauty. For style, Mega Magazine’s Editor-in-Chief, Peewee Isidro, shared her insights on curating a wardrobe that embodies your confidence and professionalism.

Aside from dressing appropriately, Ms. Peewee recommended finding pieces you could style and dress up in many ways. Items like a structured blazer and different types of heels easily elevate your look. Ultimately, she also highlighted that finding the right fit for you may take trial and error. Hence, feel free to try out trends or look for inspiration in magazines you resonate with. By finding your own unique style, you could become more confident. Thus allowing you to both look and feel good.

Meanwhile, healthy skin allows you to be your most confident self, which is exactly why a good skincare routine is important. However, with all the diverse skin types and issues, curating the right regimens is a seemingly impossible endeavor for some. So, how does one achieve healthy skin?

The Right Routines

When it comes to finding the right skincare regimens, it might be best to consult experts like dermatologists to find the perfect solutions for your skin concerns. However, if you’re looking for easier solutions, starting with gentle products is always a good idea. Dr. Irene Gaile Robredo-Vitas, a board-certified dermatologist, gave us tips on how to do so. She stated that many cleansers contain surfactants, which are incredibly harsh and damaging to the skin. “Dirt, also free fatty acids, get removed, which compromises your skin barrier, which can lead to sensitive skin,” she added.

According to Dr. Robredo-Vitas, sensitive skin is not a skin type in the first place. Instead, it results from environmental factors and products that your skin is exposed to. Likewise, practices and lifestyles can have a significant impact on your skin. “It’s not just taking care of your skin, it’s taking care of your body,” Dr. Robredo-Vitas says.

Failure to protect yourself from the sun also damages your skin barrier. In worst-case scenarios, it even leads to serious medical conditions like skin cancer. That is why using gentle products and SPF is a good start in achieving healthier skin.

Within dermatology circles, Cetaphil is certainly among the top-recommended skincare brands. It features a range of products that stays true to its advocacy of promoting skin health. Cetaphil Brand Manager Abe Mationg and Galderma Marketing and Training Manager Christine Yap-Legaspi highlighted the functions of each.

This includes Cetaphil’s Gentle Skin Cleanser, which is a cult favorite among experts and skincare aficionados alike. It is an excellent basic cleanser that soothes the skin and reduces redness. Meanwhile, Abe Mationg stated how Cetaphil’s Bright Healthy Radiance line is the fastest-growing innovation because of the radiant effect it gives users in four weeks. Designed for sensitive skin, it diminishes the appearance of dark spots.

Cetaphil’s Benzac Microbiome is designed for acne-prone skin and kills 94 percent of acne-causing bacteria. Meanwhile, Cetaphil Baby is perfect for sensitive skin. Lastly, Cetaphil Pro Ad Derma is a soothing skincare line for those with eczema and atopic or contact dermatitis. Through these gentle skincare products, Cetaphil helps people attain healthier skin.

Meanwhile, Christine Yap-Legaspi also highlighted other product offerings from Galderma, Cetaphil’s parent company. She recommended a range of non-invasive injectables, such as Restylane Skinboosters, for deep hydration and rejuvenation. She also mentioned Sculpta, a collagen biostimulator that minimizes aging.
