Kim Jones Walks Into the Whimsical Wild Side for Spring/Summer 2025

The Dior Men’s S/S25 show brings feline flair and ceramic charm to the runway as Creative Director Kim Jones combines sharpened craftsmanship with a relaxed style

At Paris Fashion Week Men’s, Dior Men’s Spring/Summer 2025 took the catwalk to a whole new level—quite literally. Large ceramic cats lined the runway, a collaboration between creative director Kim Jones and South African ceramic artist Hylton Nel. Nel’s touch extended to crafty buttons and other elements within the collection, adding quirky sophistication to the show.

The atmosphere was a mix of kitsch, quirk, and whimsy, circulating through the air like a cloud bursting. It is a clear tribute to Kate Bush, whose dreamy track dominated the surroundings. This choice might seem unconventional for Dior, but under Kim Jones’ direction, it felt natural. Jones, who also helms the creative direction at Fendi, brought a laid-back yet polished vibe to the Maison.

However, it’s the careful details that truly define Dior’s core. For Jones, craftsmanship reigns supreme. While tailoring remains at the collection’s essence, there’s an undeniable playfulness in its prints and patterns. The new collection, bathed in a summery palette of yellows, greens, and blues, showcased animal motifs and utility wear. Soft yet boxy jackets, baggy trousers, wide shorts, knit vests, and cloche hats where individual ceramic beads are applied, make up the ensemble.

Footwear focuses on the clog. Rejecting its stereotyped image, the collection’s clogs are all handcrafted, employing beech wood and calf leather, as they convert into biker boots, with the wooden sole changed with rubber for comfort and convenience.

The collection exuded a sense of ease more than traditional elegance. But in menswear, these qualities can thankfully be interchangeable. The pieces were breezy and relaxed, niched for a summer outing, yet detailed enough to maintain culture.

Dior Men’s Spring/Summer 2025 collection accentuated craftsmanship and playful design. The Maison produced a collection that was both creative and comfortable, linking the whimsical and the tasteful under the guidance of Kim Jones.
