MEGA Drag Pride Party 2024: Highlights From the Kaleidoscopic Night

The first ever MEGA Drag Pride Party makes a resounding statement by celebrating the spectrum of the LGBTQIA+ community in the realm of fashion, beauty, entertainment, and more

Last Friday night, MEGA Drag wrapped up the celebration of Pride Month with the birth of a new tradition—the Pride Party. The ever-elated fever of Kao Manila’s walls transformed into a safe space for the LGBTQIA+ community, joining the country’s best fashion magazine in uplifting their identity, creativity, and history. This, too, was a gathering of those who thrive in the realm of drag, dance, fashion, beauty, and more.

Indeed, the MEGA Drag Pride Party set a resounding statement for the next editions to come. While it is ultimately a kaleidoscope of colorful identities, it also makes a resounding statement to keep the fight for justice and equality for the community.

Radiating Light in White

Guests in attendance came in their iterations of the dress code, all-white extravaganza, and definitely served range as they walked the rainbow walkway to the dance floor. From straightforward styles to crystal-crusted and beaded ensembles with headpieces and props, the attendees went over and beyond with their looks.

Highlighting Filipino talent when it comes to the art of drag, finalists from different islands went head-to-head during the night’s main event—the Luxe Battle Royale. But before the battle began, Philippine Drag Supernova Myx Chanel set the mood and hyped the audience with a Sabrina Carpenter medley.

And then, it was time for the main event. Six Filipino drag queens from different houses and even islands proved that their talent can go places quite literally—Empy Radora and Martha Amethyst from North Luzon’s House of Nak; Felicia Ding and Bomba Ding from Metro Manila’s House of Ding, Davao’s Muah Dayaw, and Singapore’s MikaVogue.

Drag Race Philippines finalist Eva Le Queen, photographer BJ Pascual, and beauty queen Nicole Cordoves comprised the panel of judges for the segment, where they scored the finalists through the MEGA way—mesmerizing, elegant, glamorous, and all-out.

Raving Through the Night

Inviting the crowd to the dance floor, DJs Kevs Astro and Brian Cua mixed some beats from the past decades to today’s hits.

Also joining the celebration, Absolut Vodka served four thirst-quenching drinks that honored the theme as well. The queens enjoyed Rainbow Mule, Prismatic Paradise, Pride Punch, and Cosmo Diva-Jito as they partied all night.

Of course, the occasion would not be complete without the individuals who came and marked the night with merriment. From designer Chris Nick and GMA actress Kyline Alcantara, to celebrity couple Klea Pineda and Katrice Kierulf, the attendees did not just have a good time. Their presence, more than anything, was also an act of solidarity for the rainbow community.

The first MEGA Drag Pride Party was, indeed, a kaleidoscope of joyful energy for the members of the LGBTQIA+ community. As the month of June comes to a close, may the spirit of the celebration and the reason for gathering may never be forgotten.
