A Rundown of Maxie’s Performance on Drag Race Philippines Season 3
Maxie Andreison was crowned the country’s newest Pinay Drag Superstar. Here’s a rundown of her performance during the all-fabulous third round of Drag Race Philippines
Now in its third season, Drag Race Philippines has brought drag queen vocabulary into mainstream vernacular: the runways, lip syncs, and challenges entertained the nation and showcased Pinoy drag excellence. 11 queens entered the Werkroom in August, and only one came out as the third Drag Superstar of the Philippines.

Call it a prophecy or a prediction: J Quinn said in episode 1 that Maxie was the biggest threat out of all the contestants—and she did, indeed, prove to be the strongest contender. Precious Paula Nicole and Captivating Katkat welcomed Maxie Andreison to the winning queens’ circle after the grand finale of Drag Race Philippines season 3 last night. Crowned the newest Drag Superstar, Maxie had a stellar track record and made herstory by being the first first Queen of the Universe alum to win a season of Drag Race, the first queen to win three maxi challenges, the first queen in the season to win maxi challenges consecutively, and the first queen to reach the finale without ever placing below ‘SAFE.’ To celebrate her win, here’s a rundown of her performance during her run in the season that led to the beginning of her reign.
Upping the Fashion Ante
Maxie delivered a number of epic style moments on the runway. She nailed the art of what fabulous drag style truly is—choosing striking designs that not only turn heads, but have intriguing concepts behind them. Maxie’s first runway look for Hometown Realness paid homage to Jose Rizal: What’s more Manila than Luneta? As a young bakla na lumaki sa lansangan ng Maynila, I offer this runway as an homage to my hometown & respect to our national hero: Dr. Jose Rizal,” she penned on Instagram.
For the second episode, the queens were required to showcase two runway looks that exhibited sustainable fashion; the second look needed to be conceptualized and produced in the werkroom using unconventional or recyclable materials. Maxie modeled a mermaid-cut dress made out of metal bottle caps. Her Trash-ion design, meanwhile, handcrafted out of discarded rags, was equal parts creative, innovative, and eco-friendly. While her second look was just deemed ‘safe’ by the judges, it demonstrated her skill in design.
It’s clear Maxie goes into a fashion roll from here. The queen’s Per-Yeah! look was a vibrant, colorful ensemble inspired by color games at the fair. Her 3D Fractal Extravaganza ensemble was a play on textures with the signature Ehrran Montoya avant-garde touch. Rajo Laurel’s critique: “You look like a million dollars; you look flawless from head to toe.”
She modeled with a dash of whimsy in a blue and silver number for Gosh with the Wind, and her Kum-Haute Couture look was a masterclass in elevation and enveloping shapes, displaying the stylistic potential of quilts and blankets. For Super Queens, she presented an epoch-making work of art that brought futuristic fashion onto the runway.
For episode 9, she walked the catwalk in a ball gown; the butterfly appliqués were the perfect dose of playfulness and elegance.
Taking on the Challenges
It is evident that Maxie approached the season with a sense of levity and fun. In the first episode, she said she didn’t feel nervous at all—just excited. Drag Race Philippines was the avenue for her to hone in on who she was as an artist, finding the space to demonstrate her high fashion, comedy, performance, improv, and design skills.
She earned her first RuBadge in episode 3, Dapat Pakak! One of Drag Race’s trademarks is the queens’ own formulation of a girl group—they have to perform together to a recorded track, typically with their own written verses. Maxie has perfected the art of performance in her years in drag; this is what earned her the moniker ‘Asia’s live drag superstar,’ so her victory in this challenge was not unexpected. She also emerged as one of the fiercest queens to beat for her performance in the Lip-Sync Lalaparuza Smackdown, where she had to lip sync against Zymba Ding to Hush by Nadine Lustre and Yassi Pressman.

Maxie also swapped her ‘queen’ title for hosting duties for episode 4; the queens front their own live talk shows for Pao Presents Plus. With Melai Cantiveros-Francisco as guest judge, the contestants’ wit, demeanor, and natural rapport and camaraderie were tested—will they be able to match the Comedy Queen’s quick and smart adlibs? Maxie proved so on her cooking show with Zymba Ding, Cooking Ina. “Wala akong nakitang kaba sa kanya [Maxie] at all,” Melai said in the episode. “She owned it, pero nagbigay rin siya kay Zymba Ding. Their camaraderie was the best, and I didn’t feel out of place.” Kaladkaren meanwhile said, “Your best quality is that you have control. You were running out of time but you were able to control the situation in a very fun and effective way.” Maxie’s calm and confident demeanor propelled her to effortlessly wield the microphone—serving “Michelin-star” for her hosting skills.
While Maxie didn’t win the Snatch Game, giving Angel her rightful flowers for her impersonation and modern interpretation of Maria Clara, Maxie was still a frontrunner with her comedic and improv abilities as The Girl on Balete Drive. Interacting, bantering, and turning into her character? The Snatch Game might not be Maxie’s area of expertise, but it’s one where she still shines.
The Pinay Drag Superstar’s next win was for giving her loved one, her father, a drag makeover—transforming him into her twin superhero and demonstrating on global television how her father has helped her and her siblings’ life endeavors. It was a tearjerker episode, and Maxie sharing the stage with one of her biggest life pillars as drag queens secured her her second RuBadge. She also won an additional 20,000 pesos for the Reading Challenge, wherein the queens would roast each other in the form of rapping.
To lock in her spot as one of the top four, the queens had to record and perform a live production number featuring an original song Slay Accla. Host Paolo Ballesteros said that Maxie was undoubtedly a superstar in this challenge.
All Roads Lead to the Crown
Finally, the competition reached its climax last night: the top four queens Tita Baby, Angel, Khianna, and Maxie sashayed their way into the grand finale with three different looks. For First Time’s a Charm, Maxie recreated her first drag look at eleven years old with a mermaid cut, asymmetrical silhouette bedecked with jewels and colors. Her Art Attack Extravaganza look was inspired by a mythical creature from Visayan mythology, esteemed as the deity presiding over bountiful harvests and agriculture. For Come in Your Best Drag, she slipped in a fully sequined lava-red dress.

The Final 4 conclude their individual performances with Tita Baby doing a comedy act, Maxie live-singing an original song called Laban.
Mama Pao then cuts the finalists down the two: Khianna and Maxie, and they launch into an emotional lip sync battle for the crown. Maxie proves yet again what it takes to be a Drag Superstar: undeterred charisma, uniqueness, nerve, talent, and heart. She is Drag Race Philippines’ newest fabulous champion who has strutted a queer artists’ excellence into the national spotlight.
