From the highs of boho reinventions to the lows of mob wives trying to live their best Real Housewives lives, here’s the rundown on the most fabulous and the most… questionable looks to grace our feeds this year. Spoiler alert: it’s a mixed bag.

The Best

A New Boho Chic

Chloe S/S24
Isabel Marant S/S24

Boho never really goes out of style, but in 2024, it’s come back in a way new. Like most trends, it adds to something, where the free-spirited look of leather jackets meets the etherealness of the 70s. This is the kind of look that makes you feel like you should be riding a motorcycle through a desert with the wind in your hair while casually quoting Rumi. Think leather fringes, drapey fabrics, and grit to balance out all the flower power. It’s romantic yet fierce, a mix of strength and softness.

Brat, 2024’s Attitude

Electric green takes in the eclectic Brat color
Other than color, it’s a lifestyle of unapologetic attitude

Charli XCX’s acclaimed album Brat made waves across all the clubs, and it gave birth to the color that ruled the world for a summer, and then some after—green. You know the one: it’s the shade that screams loud, an electric, almost ghoulish, neon-esque sign to the rescue. Perfect for clubbing, TikTok dancing ala Apple, or maybe even just strutting around your living room pretending you’re on a runway. But more than its color, it’s a lifestyle; an attitude. If you wear it right, in a dirty Pop, unapologetically diva moment, you’re practically a walking trendsetter—you’re Brat. Sexy yet attuned to the rhythm of modern fashion, it’s the green light your wardrobe has been waiting for.

Animal Print: Sensuality Roaring in 2024

Bottega Veneta Resort 2025
Valentino Resort 2025

You’ve heard it before, but we’ll say it again: animal print is back. The jungle came, it roared, and it poured sophistication over everything it touched. From sleek leopards to full-on zebra stripes, this trend proves that a little animalistic instinct can go a long way. But here’s the thing: it’s not all about being untamed. No, no, no. This year, animal print is all about luxurious touches—think silk, cashmere, and impeccable tailoring. The new era of animal print is refined, sensual, and versatile. A chic leopard print top paired with tailored trousers? Perfection.

Polo Shirts: The Iconic Preppy Comeback

You’ve got Zendaya looking like she walked straight off a tennis court into your closet, and then there’s Challengers, the film that made polo shirts the new it-piece of the year. Polo shirts are uthentically preppy. They’re the ultimate versatile staple, popping up everywhere from high-end runway collections to your local sports store. Whether it’s styled with high-waisted denim or paired with a cute skirt, the polo shirt has found its rightful place in the 2024 wardrobe. It’s sporty, it’s chic, and it’s somehow effortlessly cool. What’s not to love?

Bubble Skirts: Flouncy and Fabulous

Louis Vuitton Cruise 2025
Tory Burch S/S24

We’ve come to the conclusion that, at least for now, the fluffier, the better. Bubble skirts are in full force, bringing back the days of puffy silhouettes. It’s all about exaggerated volume and playful shapes that let you twirl through life like you’re in a never-ending parade. It’s like you’re a walking cupcake, only instead of frosting, you’re dripping in sophistication. Wear one and feel like a retro dream, minus the bad ’80s hair.

Bag Charms: Messy, Exciting, Personal

Balenciaga S/S24
Coach S/S24

Your bag deserves better than being just a bag. Bags are accessories to your accessories. Messy? Yes. Personal? You bet. At a time of disarray, your identity is what keeps things unique. Toss on a fuzzy pom-pom, a bejeweled keychain, or even a mini plush Labubu for that mix of whimsy and chic. This trend is the antithesis of overthinking. Just throw a charm on your bag and walk out the door.

The Worst

Colored Tights: Fashion’s Faux Pas

Proenza Schouler S/S24
Dua Lipa

What was once a fleeting ‘90s revival is now clashing with modern sensibilities like a neon sign on a runway. It’s colorful, but at what cost? They’re like that awkward cousin at family dinner who doesn’t get the memo on the dress code (but we love them anyway). Just because a fashion house puts them on the runway doesn’t mean they belong in your wardrobe. But when done tastefully in somewhat of an ironic way, they could work. When you go for camp, go all-in.

Mob Wife: Not Quite Ready for Primetime

HBO’s The Sopranos
Kelsey Merritt

Here’s a trend that doesn’t quite translate, especially if you’re living in the Philippines. The Mob Wife aesthetic, popularized by The Sopranos, doesn’t fit into our tropical vibe. The idea of wearing oversized sunglasses , fur coats, and heels sounds luxurious, but unless you’re on a cold-weather holiday, it just looks out of place. The best we did was localize it, but in general, the mob wife look feels like an ill-fitting costume, not a lifestyle.

Cowboy Core: Yeehaw, But Make It Messy

Bella Hadid
Beyoncé

Cowboy core had a moment with Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter look and Louis Vuitton’s menswear collection, but let’s be real—this is a messy cousin of boho that doesn’t always hit the mark. Cowboy boots? Great. Cowboy hats? Absolutely, if you’re a real cowboy. But when you start mixing low-rise jeans, fringed jackets, and a whole lot of “yee-haw,” it just feels forced. If it’s not a Halloween costume or a rodeo, leave it on the ranch. It can look good, but it requires the right context, and let’s face it, not everyone can pull it off without looking like they’re auditioning for a Kacey Musgraves music video.

There you have it: the hits and the misses of 2024’s fashion scene. If you’re leaning into boho or brat green, we salute you. If you’re thinking about colored tights or cowboy hats, maybe, just maybe, take a step back and reassess. Fashion is all about experimentation, but let’s not forget to leave the cringe-worthy trends in the past.
