5 Lessons We Can Learn From Marina Summers’ Transition Journey
Call her Marina. Since many first got to know her on Drag Race Philippines season 1, Marina Summers has made her way to the top as one of the biggest drag artists in the Philippines. And in 2026, she once again got people’s attention, but not for a performance or a new song, but with her coming out as a trans woman.
Through a statement and stunning photo shoot, Marina revealed that she officially began socially transitioning at the start of 2025 and soon began Hormonal Replacement Therapy (HRT) later that same year. Then, in her latest vlog, Marina revealed that she got breast augmentation surgery in January 2026, a personal decision that she made to align her body with how she sees herself now.
More than just an announcement, Marina’s transition was the reveal of someone finally living their truth after spending years putting it on the back burner. Marina Summers is still the icon we all know her to be, but this time, she’s doing it while being her authentic self. It’s a beautiful journey, and one that can reflect truths in our own lives.

You Will Always Have a Support System
Regardless of what you’re going through, it can feel like a lonely journey that no one understands. Yet, no matter how isolating it may feel, there will always be people who will love and support you. For Marina, when she first started to transition, she did so quietly and only to her close friends and family because they gave her the space to heal and just exist before she was ready to come out. Whether that be your actual family or a found family, you aren’t alone in this. There is love in this world that you deserve, and that kind of support can be invaluable in navigating your journey.
There’s No Need To Rush Things

In today’s fast-paced world, everything feels like it needs a decision this second. But there are things in life that do not need an instant answer and, in fact, are better when you give yourself the space and grace to reflect and think it over. Everyone has their own journey, after all, so you have the right to do things at your own pace and discretion. This isn’t a race, so if you have the opportunity to, give yourself the time to figure things out.
You Will Find What’s Meant for You
Marina has stated that she always felt she had a feminine side since she was a kid. But it was only as she got older and gave herself the time to understand herself more that Marina came to the realization of who she really is and how she wanted to live and express herself. Things can be and probably are confusing, but such is life. Yet in all of this, don’t lose hope, because what is out there will eventually come to you. So remember to be kind to yourself because you will find the happiness you’ve been searching for.
You Can Healthily Let Go of Your Past

For many, moving forward can be difficult because of how their past feels like a burden they have to carry. But it’s in these moments where your past isn’t a weight, but a chapter of your life that led you to where you are today. Letting go isn’t a sign of weakness, but a freeing opportunity to hold space in your heart for things that you maybe weren’t able to before. It all comes down to doing things in your own time when you’re ready.
Be Open With Yourself
Every journey begins with a single step, and you can’t even make that step unless you feel like you’re ready to do so. You may not know what exactly it is you want, but it doesn’t hurt to be open to the possibilities and live life to the fullest. Marina shared how she couldn’t exactly name what was inside her. But she did let life take its course, and she slowly but surely understood what was in her heart. Marina’s readiness and patience allowed her the time and space to sit with uncertainty without demanding immediate answers because understanding yourself is not something you do in the snap of a finger.
As Marina shows, it starts with you and your capacity to give yourself the space to genuinely and authentically feel things out before you know what you want to do. It’s understandable when questions and doubts enter the picture, but that doesn’t and shouldn’t negate your ability to follow your path in whichever way feels right and affirming for you. Change can be scary, but what’s scarier is not giving yourself the opportunity to discover yourself. So don’t let the roadblocks stop you from doing what you have to do to be who you are.
