These Filipina Cosplayers Need To Be on Your Radar
The world of video games, anime, and all things in geeky pop culture can foster such passionate fanbases that many are willing to go above and beyond to express their love. For some, that comes in the form of doing cosplay. A mix of the words costume and play, cosplay is the act of dressing up as a fictional character. But it goes above just dressing up in a costume as cosplayers embody their character as a kind of performance, often in intricate and detailed looks.
The Philippines is no stranger to cosplay as it has a vibrant community, which includes talented Filipina cosplayers who are taking the craft to the next level. There’s a pioneer like Alodia Quimbo who, even though she isn’t so active in the scene these days, was the undisputed face of cosplay in the Philippines for a time and helped open the doors for other Filipinas to do the same.
Not only are these women skilled in what they do, but it’s done as an empowering form of creative freedom, art, and self-expression. These ladies are making a name for themselves, and their work is helping make space for other women to join in on the hobby. Check out these Filipinas who express their love for pop culture through their excellent cosplay below.

Myrtle Sarrosa – An OG in the Scene

Myrtle is known for a lot of things—an actress, Kapuso talent, and the winner of PBB Teen Edition 4. But to many, Myrtle is known as a major figure in the Philippine cosplay space who helped it gain mainstream attention. As a teenager, she was a fan of anime that eventually morphed into her trying out cosplay for herself. Since then, she has consistently refined her work with head-turning looks and jaw-dropping ‘fits.
Even if she’s already years into her career, there’s little sign that this in-demand cosplayer and gamer is slowing down anytime soon. Case in point: she was recently named Best Dressed at the red carpet premiere of Netflix’s One Piece Live Action Season 2 in Tokyo, Japan.
Een Mercado – A Top Female Cosplayer

The name Een Mercado is a familiar one to many in local geek, pop culture, and fandom spaces. With more than a million followers across her social media pages, Een is a top streamer and content creator, while her cosplay is no joke. She’s embodied many famous characters over the years, with each look being a certified head-turner.
Charess Kurogane – Top-Tier Cosplay Work

Cosplayer, content creator, and streamer Charess Kurogane credits her love of anime and manga as a young kid for helping her get started in cosplay. Now, with followers reaching the hundreds of thousands, Charess has made a name for herself as one of the most sought-after Filipina cosplayers in the country with her excellent portfolio and striking presentation.
Awie De Guzman – A Cosplay Star

To some, cosplay is just a hobby done during their free time. But some can turn that passion into a profession. One successful cosplayer who does just that is Awie De Guzman. Over the years, Awie has built a strong following with her impressive cosplay and costumes of famous characters from video games, movies, and TV. She’s also been tapped by major brands such as Netflix, Disney, and Warner Bros. for special cosplay projects.
If she isn’t stepping out in looks with her partner, fellow cosplayer Prince de Guzman, Awie is probably attending a local movie premiere or pop culture convention dressed as one of your favorite characters.
Roxanne Kho – Certified Head-Turner

Roxanne and her partner, Zack “Zackt” Tolosa, are the definition of cosplay royalty. But her solo work is more than enough for this talented professional cosplayer. With each look she does, Roxanne embodies the character to pinpoint perfection that would have you stopping in your tracks if you saw her in real life.
Aryanna Epperson – Thriving With Her Nerd Passions

Doing cosplay since she was a teenager, content creator and cosplayer Aryanna Epperson is living proof that you can unapologetically embrace your inner geek and thrive because of it. Her work in cosplay and pop culture spaces have earned her a sizable following, and she’s even caught the attention of global companies. In particular, Riot Games tapped Aryanna as the official Philippine cosplayer for League of Legends character Zeri.
Kitz Cua – The Power of Transformation
One of the best things about cosplay is how people can transform into a completely different person. That’s something Kitz Cua does so well. Her cosplay transformations have gone viral in the past, which has helped her rake in nearly 590,000 followers on TikTok alone. Aside from that, Kitz is also a game streamer, vlogger, and does aerial dancing on the side.
Hippochii – One of the Best Jinx’s Cosplayers
A fan favorite in many local cosplay and pop culture conventions, Hippochii is a walking human chameleon in how she can shapeshift to any character she chooses to cosplay as. It doesn’t hurt that she’s also skilled as a makeup artist and in wig styling. She brings consistent quality to her craft that makes every one of her looks a standout.
Mira Rae – Serving Looks
When it comes to Mira Rae, cosplay isn’t just dressing up or putting on a costume. For the artist and designer, it’s a full-on transformation and embodiment of the character. Her captivating looks touch upon a wide variety of sources, from anime to video games, TV shows, and more.
FoxRots – Consistent Artist, Cosplayer, and Creative
For over a decade, Carla Vergara, popularly known online as FoxRots, has been going strong in the local cosplay scene with her wide roster of inspirations that range from video game characters, superheroes, and more. She naturally came into cosplaying because of her love for anime, cartoons, and comic books, while her cosplay name is a reflection of her geek side, as it used to be her Tumblr URL, and the “rot” is a reference to her love of horror. Currently, FoxRots is on a cosplay hiatus as she pursues further studies abroad, but her return to the scene will be a welcome one.
