As shown in the ensemble worn by Joshua, modern fashion must go beyond mere aesthetics; it’s about championing local industries and embracing sustainability as a core value. From the intricate embroidery designs to the finest fabrics, Bacudio is passionately curating a platform that empowers Filipino weavers and embroiderers to unleash their creativity and proudly exhibit the magnificence of Philippine culture.

A Filipino effort

By virtue of Proclamation No. 313 Series of 2012, the month of January is designated as Philippine Tropical Fabrics (PTF) Month. Pineapple leaf, abaca, banana, and Philippine silk are just a few of the natural fibers that go into making the textiles that make up the PTF. With the goal of encouraging the private sector, associations, institutions, and the academic community to use PTF, the Department of Science and Technology-Philippine Textile Research Institute (DOST-PTRI) spearheads the country’s celebration of Philippine Tropical Fabrics Month.
