EXCLUSIVE: A Full Breakdown of BINI’s Looks at Billboard Korea

Sustainable fashion designer Marian Zara talks to MEGA about the designs she created for BINI’s latest milestone

Only the finest ensembles will suffice when a world-class act like BINI takes on the world stage. At the launch of Billboard Korea, members of the Nation’s Girl Group were dressed in custom Marian Zara as they graced the stage and received their Voices of Asia Award alongside the Kings of P-pop SB19.

BINI’s Blooming Era

A local champion of wearable art, Marian Zara integrated sustainable style into the custom outfits she created for the Nation’s Girl Group. The designer shares with MEGA that she drew inspiration from “Cherry on Top,” BINI’s latest single. She added touches of black and white to neutralize the red, as well as denim—a staple in both BINI’s and Marian Zara’s respective art forms.

Apart from the red, white, and blue hues, the girls were seen with touches of flora on their ensembles. “The inspiration behind BINI’s look is their blooming personality and career,” shares Marian. “This [was] the perfect time to use flowers as we see them more often on the international stage.” She took on a similar approach to SB19 stylist Ehrran Montoya, straying away from costume-y looks. Instead, she added studs, grommets, and ruffled textures to elevate the outfits.

Creative Collaboration

The girls’ final look successfully showcased their budding personas thanks to Marian’s collaboration with the group’s stylist Ica Villanueva. “Ica told me the direction she wanted to see for this special event, but gave me the creative freedom to make each outfit aligned with our brand,” the designer shares.

This isn’t the designer’s first rodeo dressing the girls in her designs. Marian Zara’s team has mastered BINI’s signature look and preferences well, having created over 20 sets of outfits for them. “There are times that I get confused with their outfits, too,” the designer laughs. Despite this, she’s yet to miss the mark on clothing the girls with designs that are unapologetically them.

Though collectively exuding a sweet and vibrant allure, what truly charms BLOOMS and casual viewers alike are BINI’s unique personalities. Quite frankly, Marian Zara’s designs perfectly capture and celebrate both. This doesn’t only amplify the girls’ musical power but also puts local designs and sustainable fashion practices in the global spotlight.
