Aleah Finnegan Vaults to Victory at SEA Games 2025
It’s a moment to celebrate. Filipino-American athlete Aleah Finnegan once again lifted the Philippines to the top of the gymnastics podium after capturing the gold medal in the women’s vault at the 33rd Southeast Asian Games in Pathum Thani.
At only twenty-two years old, Finnegan delivered a powerful performance that edged out fierce rivals from Vietnam and Malaysia to claim her third SEA Games gold—a remarkable feat that feels inevitable from her past triumphs in the 2021 Vietnam Games. She’s a competitor who’s growing her legacy, both in skill and in story.
“All I wanted to do was hit a clean vault and then we hit the clean vault and it took us forever to get the results. I was kind of chasing around the arena trying to figure out what our final score was because we weren’t really sure,” she shared to Filipino reporters. “It didn’t really hit me until we got up on the podium where they officially announced it. I’m just so overjoyed, I’m just so thankful for all the support and I’m just so happy.”
Gold, Grit and Gratitude

Those who have followed Finnegan’s journey know it hasn’t been a straightforward ascent. Her path has been marked by the pressures of navigating elite competition, as well as personal hurdles. And yet, her sense of gratitude for her roots and for those who have supported her still grounds her. Now, with this gold medal secured on Southeast Asian soil, she has essentially become the personification of Philippine perseverance.
As she continues to embrace her own journey, she lights the way for the next generation of Filipino gymnasts. The belief that new heights come within reach when one has discipline, heart, and a deep connection to purpose burns brighter than ever. And with the shine of this latest gold upon her, the question that remains is: how high will Aleah Finnegan soar next?
